Now it is almost impossible to establish where it came from and how the Siberian cat breed was formed. It can be assumed that from the European part of Russia cats with immigrant Cossacks got into Siberia, and then to the Far East. In a harsh Siberian climate and the cat was formed, which we now call the Siberian.
Long thick wool with a rich undercoat perfectly protected the Siberian cat from frost. In addition, the wool of the Siberian cat does not get wet, perfectly protecting it from rain and snow. Siberian cats colors can be very diverse. There is even a Siberian blue cat. But the most typical is the so-called wild color. It is much easier to care for Siberian cat hair than, for example, Persian cats. Siberian wool does not fall into mats. The cat itself perfectly cares for its hair. Siberians are very clean. The eyes of a Siberian cat are green or yellow.
The Siberian cat is a large, stocky animal with powerful muscles. This body structure makes it a great hunter. Siberian cat hunts not only mice, but also rats. The hunting instinct of these cats is developed superbly. Even 2-month-old Siberian cat kittens are already able to hunt mice. Mama-cat gives them the first hunting lessons. In addition, the mother cat teaches kittens to go to the toilet in a certain place.
Breeding purebred cats, and Siberians, including in our country, began to be engaged in the 80s of the last century. Then standards for the breed were adopted, which are now recognized throughout the world. But Siberian cats, which are sometimes found abroad, cannot be compared with the Siberians of our breeding. At international exhibitions there have been cases that foreigners who came with their Siberian cats and are firmly confident that they will take first place, simply removed their animals from the examination, seeing our Siberians and realizing that nothing shines for their cats.
It is especially necessary to dwell on the character of Siberian cats. Siberian cat character is quite independent. If the cat is not in the mood, she will not allow you to stroke her. No, she will not show aggression, she will simply leave. At the same time, these animals are very attached to their owners. There were cases that the lost Siberian cats overcame tens of kilometers, but still found their owners.
