Russian blue cat

The Russian blue cat was bred in Russia, but the modern version of the breed exists mainly due to the efforts of British breeders. Blue-eyed blue-eyed cats exported from Russia in the nineteenth century interbred with European and Abyssinian short-haired cats. As a result, amazingly beautiful animals were bred, in which silver wool is set off by emerald eye color.

Russian blue is an aristocratic breed. Cats of the Russian blue breed are not large, muscular, but at the same time very graceful. The tail is not too long, thickened at the base, legs narrow, oval in shape. On the short, wedge-shaped head, large ears with pointed tips are set high.

The breed standard is remarkable for its rigor. For thick, short wool of the same length, no shades other than blue are allowed. There should be no spots and stripes, only the tip of the nose and paws can be gray-blue. Widely spaced eyes are necessarily large, expressive, bright green.

Russian blue kittens are usually born yellow-eyed, but by the age of six months the eyes should become emerald. Russian blue kittens reach sexual maturity quite late, after a year, and do not have a high temperament. The Russian blue cat, not even neutered, will almost certainly not be tagging in the apartment.

Russian blue is one of the cleanest breeds. Their plush coat is enough to comb once a week with a brush from natural bristles. As a rule, the Russian blue cat does not like to wash, so you can replace the usual washing using a special dry shampoo. Russian blue cat is very demanding on the cleanliness of cat litter. In food, they are not whimsical, but the diet should be balanced.

Cats of the Russian blue breed have not lost their hunting skills, but at the same time, thanks to their calm and friendly disposition, they are wonderful for keeping in a city apartment.

These cats are friendly to children, easy to get along with other cats and dogs. They are deeply attached to the owners, but not intrusive. Even if they have to stay alone for a long time, they will manage to occupy themselves without defeating the apartment.

The owners, who chose a kitten of this breed, do not lose, because the Russian blue beauty will certainly become not just a pet, but a full member of the family.
