Do I need to cut the cats?

Nature has provided the cat with everything necessary – hunting skills, excellent eyesight and hearing, retractable claws, unique flexibility and grace, functional and beautiful coat. Cats are quite clean pets, but they cannot maintain a well-groomed and healthy coat, especially long-haired felines, on their own.

Grooming
In order for the cat’s coat not to deliver various inconveniences to her and others and look good, the owner must regularly carry out a number of hygienic procedures. If it is enough for owners of short-haired cats to comb their pet several times a week with a massage brush, then owners of long-haired species need to do this daily with several types of brushes. Bathing for a pet with long hair and a developed undercoat also needs to be organized more often than for a short-haired one.

In addition, you need to wash your hair monthly using dry shampoo or a special spray, regular application of antistatic conditioners, lotions and balms for the health of wool. Otherwise, mats are formed, which need to be cut off, and all sorts of skin diseases.

When do you need to cut cats?
There is no need to cut a pet if there is an opportunity to organize good nutrition, vitamin support for the animal and all stages of caring for his six. Cat grooming is needed in certain cases:

– the animal is difficult to tolerate heat due to bulk wool;
– the cat resists hygienic procedures, does not allow itself to be bathed and combed;
– skin diseases;
– the presence of mats;
– as one of the measures for prolonged molting caused by various reasons;
– street walking of the animal during adverse weather conditions for wool;
– hit of wool in the digestive tract, with consequences in the form of vomiting and problems of defecation;
– participation in exhibitions.
Lack of time to take care of the animal’s hair and regular cleaning of the room, the presence of allergic reactions among the family members of the owners or guests of the house, are also among the reasons for contacting cat owners to animal hairdressers. The price list for dog and cat haircuts includes both decorative and haircuts of a purely hygienic orientation. There are restrictions in the choice of cat hairstyles – even for decorative purposes it is impossible to cut the head, mustache, hair in the ears and the tip of the cats tail.

Effects of grooming cats
After shearing, the condition of the animal’s hair may change. Possible consequences of the procedure:

– changes in the structure of wool and elasticity of the skin of the animal;
– wool on the abdomen and back after cutting takes a darker shade;
– deterioration of adaptation to temperature changes;
– Alopecia or all sorts of problems with fouling of hair.
To teach cats to hygienic procedures and grooming is desirable from childhood on. Otherwise, any manipulations with the fur of the animal can bring great stress to the pet. You shouldn’t cut the cat yourself, as you can harm the animal. An experienced groomer is able to find an approach to a frightened client, so he does not need to use muzzles, collars and other means of forcing a pet.

Some cats can be trimmed only with the use of sedatives. Appoint the right means correctly can only be a vet, start their reception should be a few days before the date of the procedure. In some cases, a haircut can be done only with the use of immobilizing pharmacological drugs or under anesthesia. Any type of anesthesia should be selected and monitored by a veterinarian. Anesthesia has many contraindications and can adversely affect the health of the pet.
